Kingdom Vision

Babel and
the World We Live In
I remember during Junior High School doing a dumb science project on animal communication. I didn't do any experiments, just read about bees and dolphins. I even made a clay dolphin for the exhibit that looked more like a walrus. There are people who think to this day that walrus have a highly developed sense of communication. The project was dumb because everyone knows that some species of animals communicate perfectly well with each other. In fact, there is only one species in the world that is really in question, and a billion science projects couldn't begin to solve the mystery. Can human beings communicate? More |

This Month in Our History...with Fred Anderson
A century ago, this month in our history, the men in many Baptist churches were being approached about missions. Earlier in the spring in Richmond, on the day before the opening of the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention, men from across the South had gathered for a meeting of possible significance. They had come to the Calvary Baptist Church in downtown Richmond. They had sensed the enthusiasm around organizing men for missions.

Virginia Baptists Speak Spanish and a Variety of Other Languages.
"Each one heard them speaking in his own language." Acts 2:6b
The Baptist General Association of Virginia not only includes Hispanic churches, but also Cambodian churches, Chinese churches, Filipino churches, Korean churches, and Vietnamese churches. There is even a Brazilian church, an Ethiopian church, a Haitian church, and a Russian church. Although we worship in different languages, we work together to advance the Redeemer's Kingdom.
Throughout the Commonwealth, Virginia Baptists are preaching the Gospel in many languages and meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people from many cultures through missions and ministries that are supported by the combined giving power of over 1,400 Baptist General Association of Virginia Churches to Cooperative Missions.
