Kingdom Vision

Cautious Words
from Jesus during This Strange Time
This
has been a month of strange and wild behavior among many churches. Just
this week alone, I know of seven churches that have either dismissed
their pastor or lost their pastor due to conflict. That is not to mention
the number of churches still in the midst of conflict.

This Month in Our History...with Fred
Anderson
Everyone was
talking about "the hard times." The Virginia Baptist Mission
Board was victim to "the hard times." Receipts started
"falling off" with the stock market crash of October 1929. By
the next year, the Mission Board already had experienced a
"falling off," as the treasurer, Frank Crump, usually
explained the decrease in funds. Early in the new year of '30, the
"falling off" was about $50,000, which adjusted for inflation
represented a large chunk of cash needed to operate the state missions
of Virginia Baptists.

When disaster strikes, Virginia Baptists respond to the call for help
and the call to serve. Whether it's hurricane or homelessness, tragedy
or poverty, Virginia Baptists are ready to go as witnesses to our
state, nation, and world. We go to feed. We go to shovel mud and haul
debris. We go to offer emotional and spiritual care. We go to provide
child care. We go to teach missions. We go to live missions. When it's
time to go, we can because of the combined giving power of over 1,400
Baptist General Association of Virginia churches to Cooperative
Missions.
Giving to Cooperative Missions keeps us going.
