Kingdom Vision
Friendship
Growing means changing. And it seems to me that one of
those dramatic changes that occurs as we grow older is our sense of
friendship. When we were children, our friends were most of all our
playmates. You could have a rather large, loose circle of friends -
the ones you invited to your birthday party, the ones you joined for a
sleepover. But it's mostly about who you liked to play with and eat
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with.

SBC Compensation Study
The 2008 SBC Compensation Study, a joint project of state
Baptist conventions, GuideStone Financial Resources, and LifeWay
Christian Resources, collected compensation data from ministers and
office/custodial staff. Churches can access summary reports or generate
a customized report that provides information for only those churches of
similar attendance, membership, and budget.

This Month in our History...with Fred Anderson
Alfred E. Dickinson
has been dead for over a century, yet his writings continue to
inspire. From 1865 until his death in 1906, Dickinson was editor
of the Religious Herald, which he and Jeremiah Bell Jeter had purchased
following the Civil War. Dickinson traveled widely on behalf of
the Herald; and in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Herald was
read by an inquiring public across the United States. It was said
that Dickinson was "the most influential man of his time in the
Southern Baptist Convention."

The Baptist General Association of Virginia was formed in 1823 "to
furnish the Baptist churches of Virginia with a medium of cooperation
for the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and for the
advancement of the Redeemer's Kingdom by all means in accord with the
Word of God." Almost two centuries later, Virginia Baptists
are still advancing the Redeemer's Kingdom through missions and
ministries that are supported by the combined giving power of over
1,400 Baptist General Association of Virginia churches to Cooperative
Missions.
