
15th Baptist Youth World Conference
The 15th Baptist Youth World Conference sponsored by the Baptist World Alliance and will be held in Leipzig, Germany July 30 - August 3, 2008. Come and join the Baptist family in worship, mission opportunities, cultural exchange, family groups, seminars, and global understanding. We are expecting over 6,000 students to participate in this worldwide event that takes place every 5 years.
Virginia Baptists are hoping to involve over 300 students in this awesome opportunity. Won’t you come and join us? This opportunity is open to church groups and individuals.

Registration Guidelines and General Information
Individual Registrations
- Persons registering as individuals must be 16 years of age or older. Individuals under the age of 16 MUST have a parent or legal guardian register with them. Exceptions for students aged 14 & 15 may be granted under certain circumstances. Each student requesting an exception must meet the qualifications listed below. Exceptions are at the sole discretion of the Coordinator. Persons under the age of 13 are permitted to attend but MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Individual has traveled alone internationally in previous years
- Individual can get letters of recommendation from parents, minister, friend, school teacher, and other persons who know the students well.
- Individual submits to and is approved through an interview process to be determined with each request
- Individuals choosing a mission project package will be placed on a team with other individuals. The Virginia Baptist Mission Board will provide appropriate adult leadership for these teams.
- If there are 3 or more students participating from the same church then that church is required to provide an adult chaperone.
Group Registrations
- Church groups can register as one unit. Each individual of the group should be able to meet the first guideline as stipulated above for individuals.
- Church groups choosing a mission project may be paired with another church group in order to meet the request of our partner on the field.
- Church groups are required to provide adult chaperones at the ratio of 1 to 6 of the same sex.
Registration and Cancellation/Refund Policy:
- A non-refundable deposit of $300 per person is due at time of registration. This deposit is transferable to another individual until February 1, 2008. After this date all deposits are neither non-refundable nor transferable.
- A non-refundable additional payment of $500 per registered participant is due on March 1, 2008. This payment is transferable to another registered individual until April 1, 2008. After this date all funds are neither non-refundable nor transferable.
- The final balance is due in our office no later than July 1, 2008. Partial refunds and transfer of funds are possible depending on actual expenses incurred at time of request.
- Any person needing to cancel their participation after March 1, 2008 must make an additional payment equal to any monies spent on their behalf from the time of registration to the cancellation date.
Travel
- Each person will need to have a passport with an expiration date later than January 2009. Information on obtaining a passport can be found at www.travel.state.gov . It currently takes approximately 6 weeks for a passport to be processed.
- Some locations may require a visa for entry into that country. If so, our office will make all the arrangements for obtaining the documentation. This will be an additional expense.
