Scripture: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus challenged his listeners to be a light in the dark world around them. He said we are the “light of the world” that can point others to Him. The goal is to shine in such a way that others take notice of the difference in your life, and eventually they will come to realize that the power in your life comes from God. So, how do we live lives that shine for Jesus in such a way as to open doors for conversations that can point others to the one whose light is shining in and through us? Join us for Senior High Weekend to explore the many ways students can be a shining light in their world.

| Senior High Weekend features the return of a familiar face in Virginia. We welcome back Laurie Polich as our guest speaker for the weekend. A popular speaker and youth ministry author, Laurie currently serves as Pastor of Small Groups and Discipleship at Ocean Hills Covenant Church in Santa Barbara, California. She not only speaks at youth conferences, but also at women’s conferences, colleges, and churches around the country. She also speaks frequently for Compassion International and leads training for youth ministers and leaders in conjunction with Youth Specialties. Laurie is a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary and the author of several books, including Help I’m a Small Group Leader, Small Group Strategies, and a new series called Studies on the Go (published by Zondervan). |
In addition, we welcome as our worship leader a new face to Eagle Eyrie in Dana Jorgensen and his band. Passion and faith have always been a driving force in the life of Dana Jorgensen. Born in Ottawa, Canada, his passion for music has led him on quite an adventure, from singing for Disney to touring with a pop band throughout western Canada. While based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Dana merged his love for music with his faith in God and began leading worship in his local church. Dana found himself attracted to singing contemporary worship. He started out with leading worship for youth retreats and continued to lead worship in many churches across Canada. Being on stage gives Dana the opportunity to connect with a wide variety of audiences. Sharing the work that God has done in his life and the doors God has opened and closed allows him to open up with the audience. He finds that being real with people and especially teens, allows them to trust you, and once they trust you, they will listen to what you have to say. Currently, Dana lives in Nashville and travels North America putting on concerts and leading worship. |
Senior High weekend is designed for students in grades 9-12 during the 2007-2008 school year. The weekend will include celebrative worship, morning devotions, special interest conferences (targeted directly to the needs of senior high students), recreation, and fellowship. Also offered will be special tracks for identified youth emerging leaders. These continuous conferences will provide ongoing discernment assistant for students who are sensing God’s calling to vocational ministry and/or have leadership abilities that can be reinvested back into their church’s ministry. In addition, adult leaders will also receive over four hours of youth ministry leadership training.
