Mentoring Emerging Adult Leaders
Mentoring is an intentional relationship
of learning, growing, and reflecting between an experienced
minister and an emerging leader (you). It is an indispensable learning tool for those
exploring a calling to ministry or Christian service.
The "Mentor Guides" section of
The Discovery will provide you with all the information
you will need to begin a mentoring relationship. All
of the material is very simple and user-friendly.
Other ideas
and options related to Mentoring include:
- Shadowing – An incredibly simple and practical learning
tool for anyone thinking about ministry. It
is when a person, who wants to learn more about ministry, “shadows” an
experienced minister – going with them and
observing them through their daily tasks. Shadowing
may be one of the most valuable learning tools for
an emerging leader.
- Internships – In a way, internships are a longer and more committed
version of shadowing. They allow an emerging
leader to work independently (under supervision)
to develop very practical skills and experience. Sometimes,
funding is available depending on the proposed internship.
