World Hunger Awareness Day is observed by Christians around the globe as a day set aside to give special attention to those who have to deal with all of the issues related to a lack of nutritional food as a normal part of their life.
9-Month Countdown to End Hunger
The entire month of October is recognized as World Hunger Awareness month, and special emphasis is placed on the second Sunday. This year the date happens to be 10-10-10, so we are celebrating the happenstance of this special date to draw even more attention to the plight of those who suffer from hunger each and every day.

Raising Awareness of World Hunger
As a lead-in for 10.10.10, we are posting ideas for congregations to consider when observing this day. In partnership with the Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia, we will also host some statewide events as well as assist you with your individual church plans.
Ideas for congregations include:
- Take 10 minutes for each of the next 10 days and discover 10 ways you can become involved with hunger relief
- Consider how far 10 dollars goes in providing 10 meals for hungry people in Virginia and around the world
- Think of participating in a Stop Hunger Now packaging event (we're looking for 10 groups to package 10,000 meals each for a total of 100,000 meals provided by BGAV churches)
- Coordinate a 10 minute prayer walk in 10 neighborhoods surrounding your church for 10 weeks
We invite you to contact us with your ideas for raising awareness of hunger around the world!
We need your help with our Hunger Ministries!
