Kingdom Vision

Holy Week: Dying
Words
There
wasn't one cross, there were three. All the gospels make a point of
saying that it was a group execution. Jesus is not even given the
distinction of a spot-lighted solo death; he's inserted to make a party
of three, a last-minute addition to someone else's execution.

Hunger Dialogues
In April 2009, the
Virginia Baptist Mission Board and the Woman's Missionary Union of
Virginia are hosting dialogues across the state related to the issue of
hunger - both what Virginia Baptists are already doing to alleviate
hunger in Virginia and around the world and, maybe more importantly,
what we will be doing in the future. These dialogues are intended to
open doors to new ideas, ministries, networks, and resources that
hopefully will move Virginia Baptists into areas that create movements
rather than just more projects. For specific dates and locations, visit
the Hunger Dialogues webpage.

This Month in Our History...with Fred
Anderson
Virginia Baptists have responded in heroic fashion to many
epic ministries within their long history, but arguably their greatest
challenge, and therefore their most magnificent response, were the
ministries provided during the Civil War. Much of the war's action took
place on the Virginia stage. Many of the men in the Baptist churches
participated in the armed conflict. Numerous church buildings were damaged
or destroyed.
