“As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it.
He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”
Matthew 13:23 (ESV)
As illustrated in Jesus’s parable of the sower, if we are to multiply followers of Christ, we must not only hear the word, but understand and live it in fullness, so that we are transformed. The soil for the Good News of Christ must be a life transformational culture if the outcome of this Good News is to be the exponential growth of the Kingdom of believers.
In order to evangelize properly, then, we must not only seek to transform the lives of others with the gospel, but to ensure that our own lives are so radically changed by our faith that those we are attempting to reach may see Christ at work within us.
While the Courageous Churches team seeks to provide experiences and pursue partnerships to equip those called to share their faith with the tools necessary to most successfully sow those seeds of truth, we also understand the importance of first changing the way we think about evangelism.
It is our hope that Virginia Baptist congregations may learn not only to be more passionate and successful sowers, but also to ensure they are cultivating a life transformational culture, a soil fertile enough to move its members to share their faith with others, with the help of the following Courageous Churches initiatives:
